Here are a few sites to check out for fun smoothie ideas.

1) “Smoothie recipes you must try for your kids”

2) “Introducing your child to smoothies

3) “Fairytale fruit yogurt smoothie flavors”

I think these sites have some different twists on your basic smoothie recipes. Caution: no one wants a brown smoothie. The resulting color is just as important as the taste. Experiment with these recipes and create some real winning smoothies that your children will really get excited about.

My favorite smoothie contains fresh ginger and red beets in addition to your usual banana and apples. It is sweet, spicy and bright fuschia! Don’t be afraid to try adding veggies in your smoothies. This is a very easy way to sneak in healthy spinach, carrots and other veggies without kids tasting it or realizing it. Adding greek yogurt will boost the protein content and give the smoothie a creamy texture.

Need something to go along with your smoothie? How about a breakfast cookie? Here are three recipes, click the link:

2) Blueberry lemon GF cookies

3) Carrot cake breakfast cookies – I actually made these and they are good! I used regular flour instead of Einkorn flour (no idea what that is), I also substituted sliced almonds for chopped pecans. I blueberry-lemon-yogurt-breakfast-cookies-img12shredded the apple in the food processor with the carrots, which my daughter loved pulsing the button.Carrot-Cake-Breakfast-Cookies-0699-2

Cheers! Here’s to you, rocking your mornings with your kiddos and getting healthy in the process!
